First time? That’s completely normal. You can listen quietly, bring someone with you, ask questions, or simply see what PFLAG feels like.
What happens at a meeting?

No script. No pressure.

Some conversations are serious. Some are hopeful. Some are funny. The point isn’t to perform. It’s to be around people who understand.

01

Show up

Come exactly as you are. You don’t need to know anyone or arrive with the right words.

02

Listen

Sometimes hearing someone else say “I’ve been there too” is the most helpful thing in the room.

03

Share

Talk, ask questions or tell your story if you want to. Sharing is always your choice.

04

Connect

Meetings are also how relationships form and community starts extending beyond the room.

Your first meeting

You can just be here.

There is no test for belonging. You don’t have to explain everything, disclose anything you’re not ready to share, or already understand every part of LGBTQ+ identity.

You can listen. Talking is not a requirement.
You can ask. Questions are welcome.
You can bring someone. You don’t have to walk in alone.
You can laugh. Support and joy can exist in the same room.
Who comes?

All kinds of people.

People arrive at PFLAG from different places and with different experiences. There isn’t one “type” of person who belongs here.

LGBTQ+ people looking for connection
Parents and caregivers
Partners, spouses and family members
Friends and allies
People navigating a loved one’s coming out
People simply looking for community
PFLAG support is

Peer + community support.

PFLAG creates connection, understanding, education and community among LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.

PFLAG support is not

Therapy or crisis care.

Our gatherings do not replace professional mental-health, medical or emergency services. We can be part of your support system, but we are not a clinical provider.

Need immediate help?

PFLAG Tampa is a peer-support and community organization, not an emergency or crisis service.

Crisis support Call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.

Maybe this month is your month

You don’t have to wait until everything feels figured out. Come meet people who understand, in person or online.
